Classy

Well, after years of talking about it, I’ve decided to head back to school! It’s been a long time since I’ve set foot in a classroom of any kind. So I decided to start off with something easy, and take some classes through the local community college’s continuing education program. These are non degree granting classes. Why would I even bother? As I said, it’s been years since I’ve been to school. When I originally went to college for my associates, I was fresh out of high school. Starting college was just like starting a new semester. But the last class I started was back in 1994. Feels. Like. Forever.

To get started, I decided to take some classes on a subject I enjoy most: Entrepreneurship.

The first class will be “Be Your Own Boss” and is simply a 2 night lecture on Entrepreneurship and what one would expect when starting their own business.

As for my expectations? I’m not exactly expecting a lot. The point is to get in the habit of academic thinking again. So, what are my expectations?

    - To get in the mindset for school again
    - To get a refresher course on startup basics
    - To meet like minded people
    - I love it when people are willing to take the risk, and Startup!

Also, because I have decided to take my part time side business and make it my full time work in the near future, these classes fit nicely with that plan: credit or no credit.

This series has about 4-6 different classes that interest me. I’ll write more about them as they get closer. The first class begins September 26th. As a bonus, I decided to use my vacation time from work to take these nights off, which are basically Monday and Wednesday of each week, with a few Saturdays thrown in for good measure.

Even if the classes end up being total stinkers, I’ll still enjoy having a 3 day work week now through November!
