Tomorrow starts another week. This past week seemed to go by a lot faster. Bonus for the week was taking a personal day on Wednesday. I took advantage of the time to chat with my banker, and to make another trip to the car dealer.
Remember to DUCK!
So, Wednesday I decided to take another look at new vehicles. What a pain. Literally. I went to the local Chrysler Jeep dealer, with the hope of finding something that fit me a little more comfortably. The cabin space inside all the vehicles was adequate. It wasn’t the inside that was the problem, but the getting in part. It seems with my height of 6′ 2″, I’m just not in the “target demographic” for a lot of vehicles. You would think that the Jeep brand, being tall and boxy, that they would be a perfect fit. But they are not. My next trip will be to one of the local Dodge dealers. Years ago I had a leased Ram 1500, which was perfect in size. But it wasn’t very fuel efficient. These days, with regular gas at more than $4 a gallon, fuel efficiency is almost as important as price, if not more so.
Movie Time with iTunes
A few weeks ago, I rented my first movie from iTunes. Having a Netflix account has spoiled me. I don’t even bother going to the local video store anymore. There usually isn’t anything that I have to have right now.
One of the lesser known features of iTunes is the weekly .99¢ movie. I keep track of which movie is being offered each week through an RSS feed that you can find here. When War Games, with Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy came up a few weeks ago, I decided to give it a try. I didn’t get around to watching it until last night. The quality was pretty good on my flat panel in full screen mode. My only real complaint is that after pausing the movie, the audio appeared to be slightly out of sync with the video. I’m assuming this has more to do with my over-stuffed, soon to be full hard drive, than anything else. Stopping and restarting in the same place seemed to correct the issue for the most part.
The weather has been extra humid here in Southern Michigan. Hope everyone has a nice cool place to rest.
Well, it would appear, that my home phone is not working. It rings so seldom, I didn’t really miss it. But an email from Dad on Friday let me know that no one could get through. It appears I can call out, but no one can call in. There are some days that could be considered convenient, but not always. I plan to put a call in to Ma Bell tomorrow, so they can correct the issue. For now, anyone trying to get a hold of me can call my cell or email.
Think I might try something new, and just do a weekly recap. Let’s see how it goes.
The pace for this past week was a little bit different than most. Seems like the slowdown is making a dent in how much we have to do at work. This week I left early just about every night, sometimes by more than a couple hours. For now, I don’t mind. It’s Summer; Though, I wouldn’t mind shoving it all into 4 days, and taking Fridays off.
Much of my free time these past few weeks have been spent looking into different products I can add to my own business, and have found a few more to investigate. Last week I wrote about a back-end system that I had purchased, and I’ve continued to work on that, with good success. One of my weaknesses lately seems to be organization. The new software should help me overcome that, and ensure my billings go out on time and are accurate.
I’ve also enjoyed catching up with my old friend Bill over the past week or two, bantering back and forth with short emails before work. Bill and I go way back… to the 80′s even. Seems so long ago. He’s also been working on his new site when he has a little spare time. I might see if he will post a few stories, as long as I can edit them. (ahem!)
Beautiful weather here tonight. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.
Firstly, Yes. Yes. Yes. I dropped off the face of the earth for a while. Well, I didn’t, but my blog did. When I made my last post, Now You See It, Now You Don’t, It wasn’t meant to be my final post. Actually, in retrospect, I thought it was pretty funny.
Here in the good old US of A, we are enjoying a long weekend to celebrate our national independence. Or maybe it’s another shopping holiday. I’ll let you decide for yourselves.
At any rate, it was nice to have Friday evening off from work. I’ve spent most of the weekend working on a back-end billing software for my company, Bowman Marketing. I’ve spent the last month going over different products, looking at their ease of use and limitations. I decided on a solution Thursday, and have been working on it since. Over all, I’m pleased with how it’s gone.
The weekend hasn’t been all work of course. I treated myself to a show Friday evening, the Disney-Pixar movie Wall-E. It was pretty cute. I also watched The SpiderWick Chronicles on DVD. They were both good movies; I may write more on them in the near future.
Hope your weekend is going great!
